About Us

UK-based music PR company, Someone Great PR, offers bespoke and creative campaigns through national print, online and regional press and radio services. We are a small network of dedicated, experienced PR professionals and ex-music journalists who are simply massive music lovers. We only take on records we love, and we work hard to get them heard.

Someone Great was founded by Katie Malcolmson, a music professional and ex music writer. After a few years in communications, events and label management roles at Banquet Records, [PIAS] UK and The Association of Independent Festivals alongside writing for music magazines London In Stereo and GoldFlakePaint, Malcolmson became a Music Publicist at 9PR (Max Richter, Hauschka, 130701 Records, Lee Scratch Perry etc) before moving on to become Head of Press at revered indie label One Little Indian Records - now One Little Independent Records - (Björk, Ásgeir, Poppy Ackroyd, Cody ChesnuTT, Peluché, TUSKS etc), leading on global press activities for the label. Malcolmson also ran the UK office of US-based PR and Marketing company, Brixton Agency (Sony, Run For Cover, Triple Crown, Epitaph, Solid State etc). Alongside PR, Malcolmson has worked on social media / comms for festivals and events including Secret Garden Party, End of the Road Festival, ArcTanGent, Red Rooster, AIF’s Festival Congress, Music Venue Trust’s Revive Live Tour, and artists including Everything But The Girl, Buena Vista Social Club, The Kooks, Ali Farka Touré, Nadia Reid, Reverend and the Makers and more.

Head of Press and Radio Ellie Ball started her career photographing live music and overseeing press and radio in-house at Tin Angel Records. She managed campaigns for the label’s entire roster including artists such as Nicholas Krgovich, Crack Cloud, N0V3L and Trembling Bells. She also co-founded Midlands based, all-female event, Boudica Festival.

Press and Radio Specialist Erin Brown managed press and radio for Tin Angel Records, Unheard of Hope and Meat Machine for over 5 years, managing campaigns for artists such as Mabe Fratti, Crack Cloud, N0V3l, Mich Cota / Kizis, Deliluh, Military Genius and Peter Zummo (Arthur Russell), and working with labels including Spitfire Audio, SA Recordings, RVNG INTL and more. She has also worked in production and artist liaison for Green Man Festival, Deliaphonic Festival and Southport Weekender, alongside running live music promotions company Drink Your Milk.
